I have now had some time to play with Miss Silvia and her mate Rocky.
I was away for most of the week after they arrived so last weekend was really the first playtime for me.
I had fired Silvia up previously so knew all was working as it should.
There is plenty of documentation available on this.
Rocky was easy, the only trick is matching the grind of the actual coffee being used, to Miss Silvia's tastes and getting the tamp to suit.
I soon managed to get the optimum 60ml shot in 25 seconds.
The milk frothing went well right from the start by simply following the well documented instructions. They must be right when everyone basically says the same thing.
So I pulled a shot and foamed the milk for a flat white of which I had a taste before presenting it to 'She who must be obeyed'.
I was impressed and so was 'She'. It was equal to anything that I get from the Coffee Shops at Park Road, Milton, just 50 metres from where I work. This was using home roasted Kenya AA beans that I had roasted 2 weeks before.
I ran out of those beans so swapped to some Columbian that I roasted last week. It was amazing the difference in Rocky's grind setting that was required to get back to the optimum 60ml shot in 25 seconds. It took me about 3 goes.
We both preferred the Kenya to the Columbian.
I was a little surprised at the actual length of time it takes to go from brew cycle to steam. I knew there was a delay, but it was just longer than I expected. I soon learnt to flip the steam switch before I got the milk and jug set up to steam, thus making the process quicker.
I am by no means an expert in the operation of Miss Silvia, but I am more than happy with the results I am getting and so is 'She'.
I am very happy with both machines and look forward to even better coffee and much enjoyment in the future.
Thanks for your service and all the best to everyone at Coffee Machine Express.
