Trouble Shooting HLF Coffee Machine Problems

We've now sold many HLF coffee machines and find that they rarely have any technical problems. The most common issues can be easily fixed by the people using the machines.

Here's a list of common problems and solutions:

When I press the red button to clean the machine it asks for a password?

You didn't press and hold the button for 5 seconds. Don't move your finger while pressing the button and press firmly.

My mixer bowls overflow with liquid or liquid comes out the back of the coffee machine

This indicates a blockage stopping the liquid getting to the cup. The blockage can be in the mixer bowl or the tube. Take out the mixer bowl and clean it (phone us if you don't know how). Remove the tube and clean it. I've seen coffee beans dropped into milk tubes that can cause this blockage.

If you're not sure about whether there's a blockage try pouring a cup of water into each mixing bowl and checking that the water flows through each bowl at the same rate.

Don't forget to press and hold the red button for 5 seconds to rinse the mixing bowls. The more often you do this the less blockages you'll get. We recommend a rinse daily or every 20 cups, whichever happens first.

Powder spills inside the coffee machine

Make sure the powder dispensing arms are pointing down into the mixer bowls. These are the brown arms attached to the front of the powder canisters. If they are too horizontal then powder will build up and spill into the coffee machine.

The machine says "Out Of Coffee"

Check that there are coffee beans in the machine. If you have a Vernazza or Milano with a display canister on top then check that the beans are dropping into the internal canister. To do this slide the lever at the bottom of the display canister outwards.

Coffee comes out with just water, no coffee

This is due to beans being caught around the doser. The doser is to the left of the grinder and is a grey plastic unit with metal spring. If beans are spilled onto this they can press against the right hand side. This tells the doser that it's full and there's no need to grind any coffee. Simply clean up any beans around the doser to fix this. Also check that the doser moves freely.

When I select a coffee the machine reboots

There's a stone stuck in the grinder. The machine powers down for 1 second to prevent any damage. Call us and we'll either come out or talk you through a quick repair.
